Week 1: Researching, Gathering and Exploring
- After receiving the lecture I decided to look at the links received and select the animation videos that most appealed to me. These would help me develop an idea and combine and used maybe some of these techniques to create my own animation piece for the project.
- The first animation piece I looked at was autumn story - chalkboard animation. I thought this piece was so simply done but just so effective as an animation piece. The animation piece was directed by Lucinda Schreiber and Yanni kronenberg. They used a series of blackboards and about 2000 drawings to convey the story. There was a variation of people and animals drawn onto these blackboards and a photo was taking after each movement was drawn. When the photos were all gathered together they were placed one after another in a series, this made a video which created the effect of the objects in the frames moving.
- The use of a backing track was very important as it created a mood to the video which corresponded with the actions done within the video.
